  6. Sprint To The Finish With Cfast Part 2

    adam before
My name is Adam.  I’m 34 years old, married, with three children.  The last thing I thought I would ever do in my 30’s was have braces attached to my teeth.  If anything I expected to be paying for them for my children in due course.
I don’t know the name of different teeth but the ones inside by canine teeth on the top row sat quite a way back and the front row of my bottom teeth were getting more and more crooked.  They had been getting worse over time which I am told is common as people get older.  Also, my teeth were getting more and more yellow (sounds attractive), even though I’ve never smoked, don’t drink red wine, don’t drink fizzy drinks and brush my teeth twice a day (although I’m told I should floss more).
I spoke with Simon and he said that there was something new which would be perfect for me.  It was called CFast.  It was a neutral colour brace and it could fix the problem in about 6 months.  I had thought about systems like Invisalign but everyone I knew who had used it said it took a lot longer, especially because there was a tendency not to wear them for meetings, parties, or just a random day off.
I thought about it for a few days and figured that people spend a fortune on their hair, their glasses, laser eye surgery, botox, and other plastic surgeries.  Some of these things last a day, a week, a few years and then they have to be re-done  In contrast, if I had straight teeth now, I could keep them that way for the rest of my life (as long as I look after them and I knew Simon would make sure I did).
I’ve now been wearing the CFast for 2 months and the change is phenomenal.  All being well I may actually only keep the braces on for 4 months.  After that my teeth can be whitened (although I wont be going for a Hollywood white) and then, well, that’s it.
Yes, people can see that I am wearing braces, but many people have to squint their eyes just to double check they see what they think they can see.  When people ask me about it they are actually really impressed about the speed and how neutral it looks.  I think a few have been to see their dentist to ask about it.
The best news though is that CFast didn’t interfere with my training for the London Marathon.  If I cant keep up with Mo Farah then I am determined to be the first person with CFast to finish.  I’m running for an amazing charity called Nicki’s Smile which is part of Pancreatic Cancer UK.  The money which is raised goes towards the early diagnosis of Pancreatic Cancer, which is also known as the silent killer because it is often too late to do anything about it by the time it is diagnosed.  If you would like to know more about this then please have a look at my fundraising page www.virginmoneygiving.com/adammyeroff  You will see just why this charity means so much to me.   Once you have done that, if you have ever thought about straitening your teeth then definitely give the Dental Clinic in Radlett a call.

  7. Braces

    A1 2

Braces are a general term for the appliances that can be fitted in your mouth and on to your teeth in order to move the teeth into a new position. This type of tooth movement is known as an orthodontic movement and teeth can be moved bodily, twisted, tipped or pushed up into or pulled out of the gum.

Sometimes you will find that all the teeth in the upper or lower jaws are in a poor position and the bite between the two jaws is insufficient to maintain good chewing function. This is a severe form of misalignment. In other cases, the back teeth may come together nicely to form a good bite but the front smiling teeth may be either too spaced apart leaving gaps or crowded together making them look crooked.

In the former more severe of the two examples, it would be usual to see a specialist orthodontist. An orthodontic specialist will have a variety of treatments to hand that can be applied to re-shape the entire arch of teeth and create a normal bite. More often than not the treatment may involve a variety of appliances such as both fixed and removable appliances and treatment can take up to two years. The most common age group for this intensives orthodontic treatment are teenagers but that may be more to do with the lack of social pressure than anything to do with treatment success.

If the back teeth are in a good biting position, the front teeth can be straightened using an alignment system such as Cfast ™. This works using a tooth coloured, barely noticeable fixed appliance that straightens the front teeth in only six months. At the end of the treatment, a fixed bar is hidden and bonded behind the teeth, as well as a night time guard are provided to prevent any relapse and ensure a permanent straight smile. This treatment is only available for adult patients and can give you a smile that you have always wanted with no damage to your teeth whatsoever.
